Week 1 and 2 Wanderlust 2017 – Experimenting for an Online Class

I wanted to share an experiment with you that I started at the beginning of the year. I joined Wanderlust 2017, which is a year long online class that publishes a new tutorial every Friday. It’s all about mixed media, especially art journaling and every teacher talks about different techniques or strategies on how to approach art. I’m not affiliated with them, so I’m really just telling you about it, because I have a blast getting out of my comfort zone with this class.

I finished the 2nd week (yes, I’m already a little behind…) and wanted to share my two art journal pages with you. It’s not so much about explaining how I created them, more about sharing my journey with you. So, are you ready? 🙂

I totally forgot to take pictures throughout the process, so you’ll have to deal with just the final result. 😛 At the beginning of the year, they wanted us to think of our goals for 2017 and what we want to achieve with our art. I wanted to be more experimental, less scared and just try things I normally wouldn’t try and I want to be more grateful for what I have and what I am able to do.

Wanderlust 2017 Week 2

Week 2 of Wanderlust 2017 scared me a little. I watched the video and was thinking what the hell am I doing here?! 😛
But as I said before, I wanted to experiment, try new things, so I set down and started painting. For this background I used several Dylusions paints and randomly smeared them all over the background.

I added some texture with tissue paper and texture paste throughout the page. I also stamped a few circles and some random script with gray Archival Ink.

Now I went nuts with inks, paint and water. I tried to keep the circles somewhat free, so they act as a focal point. Besides that I added a black frame using the Dylusions journaling tool and splattered paint all over the place 😛

At the end I added a quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe that I liked. I don’t like my handwriting though, but whatever 😉
