Using The Gina K Butterfly From The Stamp of Approval

Gina K ButterflyYou might have seen my Stamp of Approval unboxing video that I uploaded at the weekend. And if you’ve seen it, you might remember that I said something about the Gina K Butterfly stamp set not being my favorite in the collection (not that it is bad, just something I wouldn’t have bought for myself). But I’m not a fan of buying a huge box and then not using half of the content. So I decided to use only that stamp set for today’s cards.

I started with stamping the big butterfly using Versamark ink and heat embossing it with Wow gold embossing powder. The other butterfly is embossed as well using Zing embossing powder with glitter (stupid mess…). For both cards I die cut a piece of white and black card stock and adhered them together. The black card stock is just 1/4 of an inch wider as the white one, so that it has a nice, thin frame. Now I stamped the swirly frame on both and added a sentiment to the middle.

It took me a while till I decided on colors for the ribbon, but at the end I chose a dark red for the golden butterfly and a pink-ish/ blue ribbon for the pink one. I wrapped both ribbons around the bottom third of the card. After adhering the panel with foam tape to the card base, I added the butterflies. To get a 3D effect, I bent the wings a little bit and adhered just the body to the card.

I really like how these cards turned out! I think that the combination of the swirly frame and the handwritten font add the right amount of “fanciness” 🙂

Unfortunately the Stamp of Approval Beautiful World collection is already sold out, but you can follow Catherine Pooler and maybe grab one of the next collections? And even if you don’t buy the next one, her videos are always fun to watch.

  1. Gorgeous cards! Funny, it was that butterfly stamp that sold me on the SOA box. It is my first one! Most likely not my last!

  2. Simple and elegant!
