Stencilfied Journal Prompt 4Wow, this is becoming a real challenge πŸ˜‰ The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 4 is to work with your least favorite color. My least favorite color? I don’t really have a least favorite color… (Btw, what is yours?) I decided to go with a color that I can only handle in tiny bits, as a splash of color – red. And boy is this page red πŸ˜€

I started by filling the background with Dylusions paint in Postbox Red and then spray with the same shade a little bit onto the edges. While I was filling the blank pages, I realized that both sites have a different paper. The left is a thin, more slick paper and the right is a thick card stock. So the results, especially of the spray, are very different.

I cheated a little bit, because I was hoping I could age the page with the Sandcastle spray from Art Anthology. It didn’t work out as planned, but the pattern is still pretty πŸ˜€

Now I added even more layers with the smallest stencil from the June StencilClub set and the Sedona paint from Dina Wakley.

Here is how it looks like. Supper settle and you have to take a close look to see all the yummy layers.

At the end I added a few white flowers all around the edges – all in white (I am hoping that neutral colors are okay to use). I just needed to mute the red. Once I stenciled the flowers, I outlined them with a black pen and added a shadow around them using my Derwent water color pencil. As a final step, I outlined both pages with Black Soot Distress Ink.

What do you think? A lot of red, right? Don’t forget to check out all the other inspiration on Instagram and Facebook by searching for #thestencilfiedjournal and to see what the least favorite.

    • Thank you πŸ™‚ I love all colors. I think my favorites are orange and green. But adding bits of color everywhere always works πŸ˜€
