A Scrappy Cat for Kat Scrappiness – Thank You for Everything

Distress Ink Blending with several Layers of Masking

I have to say good bye, good bye to a great team and an amazing experience. This is my last post for the Kat Scrappiness Design Team. The half year is already over. Sometimes it’s scary how fast time passes by. This card just had to be a thank you card for Kat and Deb. Thanks to them I was allowed to join a great team and share my love for katscrappiness.com with you. I thought that a little word game might be funny, so I used a scrappy cat stamp for the Kat Scrappiness thank you card πŸ˜› As …

Week 1 and 2 Wanderlust 2017 – Experimenting for an Online Class

Wanderlust 2017 Week 2 Making Magic Art Journal page

I wanted to share an experiment with you that I started at the beginning of the year. I joined Wanderlust 2017, which is a year long online class that publishes a new tutorial every Friday. It’s all about mixed media, especially art journaling and every teacher talks about different techniques or strategies on how to approach art. I’m not affiliated with them, so I’m really just telling you about it, because I have a blast getting out of my comfort zone with this class. I finished the 2nd week (yes, I’m already a little behind…) and wanted to share my …

Spooky Halloween Art Journal Page

Spooky Halloween

Welcome back to my blog πŸ™‚ The last week was a little hectic at work (yay!!! It was way to boring before that πŸ˜› ), so I just had a little time to craft every evening. That was perfect for this page as several things needed to dry over night. It’s a little harder for me to describe how I created this spooky Halloween page. I tried a lot of things, sprayed some ink here and smeared some paint there and at the end, this is what it looked like. So, I’m sorry for the lack of instructions this time …

Video: Snarky Halloween Card – The Mighty Witch Dog

The mighty Witch Dog

I found a very neat challenge blog and just had to join! It’s called the “Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers” and the challenge is “P for Pink Halloween”. First of all, I love being snarky and if you haven’t figured yet, I’m addicted to the snarky stamps from So Suzy Stamps, so this challenge was perfect. Second, I love Halloween and really like the idea of the combination with cancer awareness month. I’m trying to use stamps that I recently bought, but haven’t used as much. So I grabbed the Crazy Dogs stamp and thought that the dog would look really …

Crazy Dog on a Rusty Steampunk Tag

rusty steampunk tag

Are you following me on Instagram or Facebook? There you might have seen the results of all the rusting that I did using the Prima Marketing Finnabair rusting paste. Some of the die cuts were the Tim Holtz gears that I now wanted to use to create a rusty steampunk tag. I started by trying one of the techniques Tim Holtz explains in his Creative Chemistry online course. I can’t remember the name anymore. It was the one where he painted the tag in some colors and added one of the metallic distress paints on top. Even though I didn’t …

It Was Not My Lips You Kissed, But My Soul.

its not my lips you kissed

Hello, I’m up on the So Suzy Blog with a new Design Team card, woohoo! I created a similar card for the birthday of my Design Team friend Olesya last month and thought that you might enjoy it. This one doesn’t use a birthday greeting though, but the beautiful sentiment “It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.” from Judy Garland. I started by heat embossing the Blowing Butterfly Tree. Now I blended four Distress ink colors over the entire card panel. I went back and forth with the colors a couple of times till I had the …

Video: How About Using Paper Flowers On Your Tag?

Paper Flowers Tag

I’m trying new things again, this time vibrant colors and paper flowers on a tag. I got the paper flowers from a Kaiserkraft bundle sold by Scrapbooking Made Simple. Also included was some paper, the Mermaid Tail die cut collection and other embellishments. I wanted the flowers to stand out, so I chose other colors for the background. Summer Coffee Lover Extravaganza and Challenge

Summer Coffee Lover

Today’s card is inspired by the Summer Coffee Lover Blog Hop and the Can You Case It Challenge #125. Based on the CYCI challenge I already knew which colors I wanted to use. I just had to decide on the medium. My only coffee stamp set is the one from Tim Holtz, so that decision was simple as well. I love my coffee black, so I used the simple coffee mug with the black gold steaming inside. After a little back and forth I decided to use my beloved Ken Oliver Color Bursts in Alizarin Crimson to create a big, …
