Faux Shaker Card Inspired by Catherine Pooler

Faux Shaker Card

Hello there, I was in the mood for something different again and for some reason I’m kind of into mixing blue and oranges at the moment. I really enjoy this color combination. A few days ago Catherine Pooler had a contest for the latest Stamp of Approval collection on her blog, which made me grab it again to play with it. One of her inspirational cards was a faux shaker card and I thought that I want to CASE her idea. So I grabbed my Kat Scrappiness sequins, the Lovely Notes collection and started assembling the card. I started by …

Quick Baby Sprinkle Card with Minor Bumps In The Road

Baby Sprinkle Card

Today I wanted to share quick card with you that I made for a colleague’s daughter who has her baby sprinkle on the weekend. In theory that could have been a quick baby sprinkle card, but the letters gave me a huge headache… I started out with randomly stamping the Pinkfresh Studio elephant using Versamark ink. (Yes, It’s going to be another ink resist card πŸ˜‰ ). After sprinkling clear embossing powder over it, I heat set everything. Now I selected the colors my colleague’s daughter is using for her baby sprinkle: yellow, bright and pastel pink, and green. To …

Black And White Card With A Colorful Feature

black and white card

So many things are happening at the moment, phew. But I’m so happy that I still find time to create some cards. Today I’d like to share another simple card that highlights the ink resist technique, but this time a black and white card with a colorful feature. I started with randomly stamping 3 different butterflies from the Kaiserkraft Butterfly set onto white card stock. To get a very crisp image I used Versafine ink and used my “gush pad” underneath the card stock. Unfortunately I got some ink onto my acrylic block and left a tiny mark on the …

Some Bunny Loves You – Night Sky Using Distress Inks

Night Sky in Water Colors

Today’s card is featuring a technique that I saw in a few videos and images over the last couple of months, but I have never tried it before: Creating a night sky using Distress Inks. I started with die cutting a white piece of card stock and stamping the moon from the Altenew “To The Moon” set in the upper half using Lawn Fawn’s new butter ink. Now I stamped the moon again onto masking paper, cut out the mask and covered the moon on the card stock entirely. For the night sky I started with blending Blueprint Sketch all …

What A Crab Party – A Quick Squared Card

Crab Party

Today’s card is inspired by one of the design team cards over on the Lawnscaping Challenge. The theme is “Celebrate”, so I created a crab party card. I started with stamping the word “Party” using Owen’s ABC onto Ranger water color paper and sprinkled white embossing powder on top. After heat setting the letters, I blended Mermaid Lagoon distress ink to the bottom right corner and blended carefully to the top. A couple sprinkles of water lifted some of the color, now it looked a little more like an underwater scene. I stamped the crab and the party hat on …

Being More Crafty – a Short Story About Me

HolyLise - final

Hello everyone, nice to have you back! Today I wanted to share a little bit more about myself and tell you the short story about why and how I started with paper crafting. In 2014 I moved from Germany to the USA. The reason was my (now) husband. He is a US citizen and I met him at work while he was visiting our German office. That was back in 2012. Between then and now a lot of things happened, but I don’t want to bore you with the details. Let’s just say that it was the best decision I …

Way too much fun with MFT stamps and stencils

MFT stamps color challenge No 26 - 1

There has to be a first, always. And today it’s the first time sharing a card that I intentionally made for a challenge. Today I’m playing along with the MFT stamps color challenge no. 26 and the Crafting by Design Summer Holidays challenge. The Background I started with preparing my shoe box to ‘color burst’ the background. To get the resist effect, I used the MFT Stencil Diagonal Bars on Canson XL watercolor paper. Than I squirtd some Ken Oliver color bursts on the background and misted everything carefully with water. To create the sun dawn effect, I used the …
