Never Stop Dreaming with Nathalie Kalbach

Nathalie Kalbach N*Studio Never Stop Dreaming

For me, creating is all about expressing myself and experiencing with new mediums, styles, etc. I love to sit down and come up with several ideas of how to use a specific stamp or stencil – sometimes I see a finished project, sometimes I just see the beginning – and then just start creating. For this page, I decided to use Nathalie’s Hamburg and Lily Wallpaper stencil as well as the new Actually, I can stamp set. I knew that my image would end up being rather long, so I grabbed my large Dina Wakley journal and primed one of …

Raiders of the lost stash with Nathalie Kalbach

Wow, what a topic. I knew that I have a lot of “lost stash” but because we are renovating our house, there is even more that has come back to the surface. So, over the last weeks, I put aside a some of those lost items, thinking that they would be perfect for this theme – and I’m telling you, that stash was a hot podge of stuff 😉 I really like this topic though. It gets you digging and you find some really neat things. For my project for the “Raiders of the lost stash” theme, I decorated a …

Endless Summer Cheerful Mixed Media Cards for N*Studio

Endless Summer Mixed Media Cards for Nathalie Kalbach

Hi everyone! Summer has started, it’s official. We are having the first days with over 100 degrees in California, so I spend a lot of time in my pool. When we bought our house, we fell in love with the pool. It is plastered with a variety of blue tiles which shine amazing when the sun hits them. The colors of the pool were my inspiration for this month’s theme – Endless Summer. But as always, I started with those colors and then couldn’t stop. But let’s start at the beginning. I decided to create a few greeting cards. I …

New Release Nathalie Kalbach and Rubbermoon stamps

New Release Nathalie Kalbach and Rubbermoon

Look at those gorgeous stamps and aren’t these little ones just so cute? Nathalie Kalbach released a couple new red rubber stamps through Rubbermoon and they are perfect for the upcoming Christmas season or just for anything when you like circles 😉 I prepared a few samples for you. Starting with just a few of them stamped onto a white piece of cardstock. The big ornament was stamped using two ink pads to create an ombre effect. Then just a little sparkle, some doodled strings and my first Christmas card for the year is done, woohoo! Working in similar colors …

Yay, the day we all have been waiting for (well, at least me 😉 ) is finally here! Welcome to the Art Journaling YouTube hop, organized by the amazing Keren Tamir and she is accompanied by incredible artists. And to top it all off, we have a long list of vendors that all sponsored prices for you – but more on that in a little bit. I’m super excited to be part of this incredible line up of artists and can’t wait to hear from you how you liked the hop. The idea was to create a page that reflects …

Nathalie Studio Creative Squad post – all shapes and sizes

All Shapes and Sizes with Nathalie Kalbach

I’m super excited about this month’s theme All Shapes and Sizes. I love shapes and it’s so much fun to incorporate them in my art journal. If I would have to pick a favorite shape, it’s definitely circles. I constantly draw circles and add bubbles to my projects. That’s why I decided to emphasize them even more for this theme. I started by picking some random mono prints. I have a huge stack of them and thought that they are perfect for adding random marks and then cutting them into shapes. In addition, I selected a few Art Foamies foam …

Inside Outside art journal page for n*studio

Inside Outside with Nathalie Kalbach

Hi everyone! The Inside Outside theme took me onto a journey. At the beginning, I wanted to create something around Winter vs Summer or a similar contrasting theme, but then I started working in my art journal and it moved into a different direction. Basically, I created a page about myself and the contrast of me at work and me at the craft table. But more on that later 😉 I started with a page that already had a few “clean up” marks on it from a Gel Press session that I had. I decided to use the round Gel …

Layers of Love with n*studio

Layers of Love with n*studio

Layers, yummy layers. I enjoy working in layers and being able to see through every one of them and get a peek of what’s lying underneath the surface. For today’s project, I picked the Elephant Parade stencil as my focal point and I had an idea in my head of several patterns shining through the silhouette. So, I grabbed a 5×7” canvas and added a wash of Dina Wakley Lime color. Then I added the first layer using the Hamburg, Toledo and Art Deco stencil and three different shades of green. For the next layer, I picked a few different …

Vacation Mode with n*studio

Vacation mode with Nathalie Kalbach

Last month’s n*studio topic “Vacation Mode” got me thinking. It’s been a while since I have been on a vacation and there is none in sight either. So, I decided for myself that if you can’t go on vacation, shopping is the next best thing. And trust me, I am good at that 😉 I was at one of the big box stores the other day and couldn’t pass the paint and paper aisles without grabbing a few items. To make sure that they don’t end up in a drawer unused, I incorporated them in my new art journal page. …

This must be the place – A project for Nathalie Kalbach

This must be the place Nathalie Kalbach

Even small pieces of art can tell a big story. I love working on tags and playing with the smaller real estate. This one was the perfect size to create some dimension without it looking too busy. Do you want to hear the story of this tag? Then read till the end 😉 I started with a mono printed background. I used a 5×7 Gel Press and added several colors of PaperArtsy paint on top. The second layer uses the same technique, but in a slightly different way. This time I used one of the Petite Gel Press plates and …
