Video: Adding the 2nd Layer of Interest to the Background with Dylusions Paints

Welcome to another video in my Dylusions art journal series. This time I’m adding even more interest to the background with Dylusions Paints. I’m using several stencils to blend the Dylusions paints onto the background. For the blending you can either use the Ranger blending tool or for example make up sponges, both work perfectly fine. When I first used the paints, it was bleeding through the stencil all the time and the images were all messed up to the point where I didn’t even use the paints anymore. During her class, Dyan Reaveley explained why this happens and showed …

Interest To the Background

Hello and welcome to part 4 of my Dylusions art journal series. This time I show you how to add a first layer of interest to the background that we made the last time. What you need are stencils with your favorite pattern, a mister bottle and paper towels. The rest is simple, but see for yourself: I hope you enjoyed my video. There are a few more to come, so look forward to more fun with Dylusions ink sprays and paints πŸ™‚ The Dylusions Art Journal Series If you want to start at the beginning of my series, here …

Creating Bright Backgrounds with Dylusions Ink Sprays

Finally, the first video in my series that is showing a technique πŸ™‚ In this video I’m showing you how to use the Dylusions ink sprays too create bright and vibrant backgrounds. I loved the technique from the first second Dyan Reaveley showed it in her class. It’s so easy and the results are gorgeous! If you like to produce a lot of backgrounds within a short amount of time, it really helps to have the ink sprays sorted by color family. Then you don’t need to think about which color to use, you can just grab the bottle and …

Video: Color Combinations with Dylusions Ink Sprays

Welcome to Part 2 of my Dylusions art journal series. Before I finally start using her products, I wanted to share one more information with you. And that is which colors work well together. I guess there are several color combinations with Dylusions ink sprays, but this combination is the “easiest” for me to work with. I (and Dyan Reaveley confirmed it during the class) sort colors for cold and warm tones. This way I don’t need to worry about brown or muddy colors when they accidentally mix together (which they will…) πŸ™‚ Cool Colors In general, cool colors are …

Video Walk Through Large Dylusions Art Journal

large Dylusions art journal

Well, hello there! I was very quiet the last weeks and I’m sorry for that! There was just so much to do at my actual work (the one that pays for my hobby πŸ˜‰ ) and I didn’t have any time to do something crafty. I was visiting a Dyan Reaveley class at Scrapbooking Forever this weekend and wanted to show you what we did to our large Dylusions art journal. It was an amazing class! I learned so much techniques for my art journal and how to be less critical with my work (let’s see how long that lasts…lol). …

Video: How About Using Paper Flowers On Your Tag?

Paper Flowers Tag

I’m trying new things again, this time vibrant colors and paper flowers on a tag. I got the paper flowers from a Kaiserkraft bundle sold by Scrapbooking Made Simple. Also included was some paper, the Mermaid Tail die cut collection and other embellishments. I wanted the flowers to stand out, so I chose other colors for the background. Video: Mary On a Mixed Media Tag

Prima Marketing Tag

This gorgeous Prima Marketing stamp is in my stash for a while now and I haven’t used it yet. Can you believe that? (Probably, don’t we all have stamps that haven’t been used yet?). Anyway, I wasn’t in the mood for an entire journal page so I decided to create Mary on a mixed media tag. Tip: Instead of buying “expensive”, already cut manila tags you can buy a box of manila file folders and cut them with a tag die. I was a little lazzy and didn’t want to write down every step, so I thought that I could …

There Is An Angel On My Canvas

Shiny

I started with this canvas a while ago and I finally finished it last weekend. This time I remembered to take pictures throughout the process, so you get a better idea of how I created it. Because I had to wait for things to dry all the time, it took me about two weeks to finish it. Of course, I didn’t work every single day on it πŸ™‚ Btw, at the beginning I had no idea what I want to do with the canvas, I just started and everything came together one step after the other. Basically I started with …

Birds On A Wire Art Journal Page – Mod Podge Disaster

Birds on a wire

Sometimes I wish I would do more research on things. I’m a little mad at myself, because I kind of ruined my art journal page. All started out good. I added some Hickory Smoke Distress Ink through a Faber Castell stencil. Then I used a lilac and an orange Gelato and blended the colors on top. Because I had some scraps with acrylic paint splatters laying around, I arranged them on the top right and bottom left of the page. Now I took some American Crafts bakers twine and wrapped it around the page. Because it looked like power lines, …
