My fire burns bright art journal page with n*studio

My fire burns bright art journal page with n*studio

Welcome to the December Creative Squad topic “My fire burns bright”. If you want to see what I created for January, check out Nathalie’s blog. I don’t know why, but my first thought when I read this theme was sunrise. Instead of trying to analyze it, I decided to just go with it and create a scene using the Midtown foam stamps. I stamped three of them onto my art journal page. One of them is actually supposed to be standing up, but I think it works out pretty well laying down. Next up I created some simple masks for …

The Smile is the Key for StencilClub Voices January

Smile is the Key Canvas for StencilClub Voices

One of the things that I really enjoyed throughout 2018 was my membership of StencilClub. This is a monthly subscription where you get three StencilGirl stencils – all exclusive for the club. One part of it is the membership of a secret Facebook group. Super supportive folks there and it’s so much fun to see all the projects that everyone is creating with their monthly stencils. Another perk is the chance to be part of the StencilClub Voices. That means a few members get randomly selected to share their work using the monthly stencils. We get early access too 😉 …

Destination Unknown – A Visible Image Art Journal Page

Destination Unknown A Visible Image Art Journal Page

Woot, woot, I’m up for Visible Image and created an art journal page using the Destination Unknown stamp set. This is definitely one of my favorites, mainly because I really like the font of the sentiments. But, in just a few days, Visible Image is releasing some new stamps and they are going to be amazing – so stay tuned for that. Till then, here is my art journal page. I started by painting a pink and purple all over the page and blended it in with white acrylic paint. I went back and forth a couple of times, till …

Playing with my new Viva Las Vegas Stamps

Playing with my new Viva Las Vegas Stamps

Do you know that? You see a stamp company and you can’t stop looking at their stamps, but you never click the buy button? Maybe because you don’t really know how to use them or maybe because you’re intimidated by these gorgeous images? Well, that happened for me when I was looking at Viva Las Vegas stamps. For months I was following their design team, checking out new releases and tried to figure out how I can incorporate them into my art. Then I finally went to their store when I was in Las Vegas and ordered a handful. During …

Experimenting with spray paint and Nathalie Kalbach foam stamps

Experimenting with spray paint and Nathalie Kalbach

Welcome to a new Creative Squad post. Last month’s topic over at the n*studio blog was “each day is a new adventure” and we were trying new techniques. For me that meant experimenting with spray paint. I got a few sample sizes during a shopping spree at a local art supply store and never had the courage to try it. Thanks to this topic I finally did and I really like the result. But let’s start at the beginning. I used the Santa Fe stencil to create the first layer of the background and sprayed some yellow and pink paint …

Mixed media art on a card? Yes, please! – featuring Visible Image stamps

Mixed media art on a card? Yes, please! Featuring Visible Image stamps.

I was in the mood for some mixed media fun, but I didn’t want to create an art journal page or canvas. So I decided to create some mixed media art on a card instead. My new paint addition from a Black Friday sale and some of the Visible Image stamps helped me making my idea a reality. I started with some texture for the background and added a mix of peach and grey color to it. I never used that color combo, but have seen several great projects from other crafters with it. After I was done with the …

Buzzing around Art Anthology journal page

Buzzing around Art Anthology journal page

Hi everyone, today I’m challenging myself with a new type of layout for my art journal page. I got inspired by the amazing MixedMedia Jenn aka Jenn Engle and wanted to create a page with white space. Shocking, I know 😛 I started by adding some texture to the background. I really like how that beehive stencil turned out. With all that buzzing around I needed an insect – a bee was nowhere to be found, so a dragonfly it was. You can see the step by step tutorial in my video here: What do you think? Does it look …

Monoprinting techniques for quick and easy tags - featuring Visible Image

And woops, Thanksgiving is over and we are one holiday closer to Christmas and the end of the year… I hope you enjoyed Turkey day (if you’re in the US). Today I’m sharing my first project for the Visible Image design team and I’m showing you a few monoprinting techniques. Of course I’ll also finish the tags up 🙂 Visible Image is a great company. If you haven’t seen them yet, you have to check them out. It’s exactly my style and I’m in love with all the silhouette stamps and fun sentiments. It’s super easy to create stunning mixed …

Using Colorations Sprays from Art Anthology to create a camo canvas

Hi everyone, I’m up on the Art Anthology blog again and this time I’m sharing a small camo canvas. I thought that you needed a little break from my art journal pages 😉 The last weeks were so busy. My job got busier and busier (which I love), so I didn’t have a chance to truly play. That’s why I love the Art Anthology posts, because their products allow me to truly let loose. As you can imagine, that’s what I did . I played with the Colorations Sprays and acrylic paints. But see for yourself. My step by step …

The world is my playground art journal page

The world is my playground art journal page with Art Anthology

The world is my playground. Sometimes this is the best way to approach an empty page. Probably everyone had a moment in their crafty life where they were sitting in front of their art journal and then…. nothing. I definitely had those situations and here is what I do: I grab several shades from the same color (for example a few blue shades) and then just dunk my brush into the jar and start painting. The moment I do that, the ideas start flowing. Sometimes the pages end up very bold, sometimes with just a few layers. No matter how …
