The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 4 – My Least Favorite Color

The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 4

Wow, this is becoming a real challenge 😉 The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 4 is to work with your least favorite color. My least favorite color? I don’t really have a least favorite color… (Btw, what is yours?) I decided to go with a color that I can only handle in tiny bits, as a splash of color – red. And boy is this page red 😀 I started by filling the background with Dylusions paint in Postbox Red and then spray with the same shade a little bit onto the edges. While I was filling the blank pages, I realized …

Sunny with a Side of Sparkle Blog Hop Day 1

Sunny with a Side of Sparkle Blog Hop Day 1

Oh my, have you seen the new release from Catherine Pooler? I’m so excited about it. So many geometric shapes: stars, diamonds and a really neat stencil. And what do you do with stencils? You might think “ink blending” (which is not wrong), but today I’m thinking about texture paste – woohoo 😉 I haven’t played with texture paste in way too long and this stencil was asking me to get some out and mess around with it. In my video I will share a super easy way of coloring texture paste and then using it for a fun background. …

Gorjuss girl art journal series – Piracy

Gorjuss girl art journal series piracy

Welcome back to a new video of my Gorjuss Girls art journal series. This page uses No. 49 – Piracy. A cute little pirate girl. If you haven’t seen the first video yet, you can find it here. I wanted to create an ocean theme for the little pirate. For whatever reason, it ended up being an underwater scene, but I still think it fits 😉 This way I was able to use this really cool octopus stamp from Tim Holtz. Also, I tried the Marabu Art Crayons that I found at Joggles the other day. You can watch me …

Yummy texture with Emerald Creek Baked Texture, Distress Oxide and monoprinting

Yummy texture with Emerald Creek Baked Texture, Distress Oxide and monoprinting

Hi everyone, I had a lot of fun playing with the new Distress Oxide colors and the ranger Gel Plates. I experimented with the Oxides and how they act for mono printing. In addition, I finally played with the new Baked Texture embossing powders from Emerald Creek and Seth Apter again to create some yummy texture on my tags. You can see all the details in my video, how the ink behaves, how gorgeous the Baked Textures are and most of all, how much fun everyone can have with just playing around 😉 I hope you enjoyed my little experiment …

What is Earl Lube Paste? Test a new medium with me.

What is Earl Lube Paste? Test a new medium with me.

My favorite art supply store had it’s semi-annual art supply sale last weekend and of course I was there. Besides more paints (can you ever have enough?!) I also grabbed a bottle of Earl Lube Paste. It was not the first time I saw it in the store, but this time I recognized the samples next to it. They said that it can be used as a clear gesso, for decoupage and acrylic pouring. Could that be true? After I talked to the owner a little I thought I just have to try it – and here we are. I …

This must be the place – A project for Nathalie Kalbach

This must be the place Nathalie Kalbach

Even small pieces of art can tell a big story. I love working on tags and playing with the smaller real estate. This one was the perfect size to create some dimension without it looking too busy. Do you want to hear the story of this tag? Then read till the end 😉 I started with a mono printed background. I used a 5×7 Gel Press and added several colors of PaperArtsy paint on top. The second layer uses the same technique, but in a slightly different way. This time I used one of the Petite Gel Press plates and …

My Home is my Castle for Nathalie Kalbach

My Home is my Castle for Nathalie Kalbach

Hi and welcome back to a new project for Nathalie Kalbach’s Creative Squad. I’m playing with Nathalie’s new stamps My Home is my Castle. Have you seen them yet? I was in the mood for some Distress Oxide fun, so I grabbed three tags and started coloring them in. My favorite technique is ink smooshing. For that I used three colors of Distress Oxide from the same color family and smooshed one after another onto my craft mat. Then I spritzed a little water on top and dragged the tag through the ink, one color at the time. Between every …

Deflecto Guest Post for Valentine’s Day

Deflecto Guest Post for Valentine's Day

I’m super excited to be guest designing for Deflecto again. February is all about Valentine’s Day and I created a very pink frame insert. I’m not a “pink person”, but I enjoyed creating this insert for the Craft Frame in pink. The good thing about is that a portion of Deflecto’s pink product proceeds go to the fight against breast cancer. To see how everything came together, check out my video: I used a candle to lighten up the negatives, but you could use a light string or one of those LED lights. It’s a really neat effect when the …
