Up-cycling Starbucks Coffee Mugs for Christmas Cards

Card 1

Hello all, I just wanted to share three quick cards with you that I made by up-cycling Starbucks and Coffe Bean & Tea Leaf coffee mugs πŸ˜€ I used the biggest cup sizes and started with tearing them apart. Then I used my stitched rectangle die to create the card front. To remove the logos I ran through my die cut machine again using a circle die. As you can see, it didn’t fit perfectly, but I’m not worried about that. I also picked three die cuts that I had laying around in my scrap box and colored them with …

How to create a Card Using a Coffee Mug – CYCI #142

fuzzy yeti

Welcome to a new Can You Case It challenge! Today we have a color challenge for you and when I saw the winter mugs from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, I knew that I had to use it for this challenge. I started by taking the coffee mug apart and removing the sides. Then I used a stitched rectangle die to create a square shape. Even though the logo would look interesting I decided to remove it. A simple circle die is perfect to create a window. You could keep the logo, if you would want to create a gift …

Bah Humbug – A Snarktoberfest Christmas Card

bah humbug

Welcome back to Snarktoberfest. Let’s continue with our snarky celebrations and spread the fun and giggles πŸ™‚ Today’s card is rather simple and could be your perfect Christmas card for this year πŸ˜‰ I started by cutting the background with a stitched border die. Then I stamped the “Bah Humbug” to the left and the MFT reindeer to the right side. I just love the face expression of it! It fits perfect with that sentiment πŸ˜€ Now I colored the reindeer and added some Nuvo Drops in Morning Dew to the nose and the Christmas ornaments. Finally, I adhered it …

Once Upon A Time – A Fairy Tale Card – CYCI #134

Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time… oh wait, before I start and you are like “What the hell is going on here?” let me explain myself. Being part of the Can You Case It Design team is super fun. For example, for this challenge we were talking about possibilities for this week’s sketch. I was asking, if dragons and unicorns count as pets as well. After a fun back and forth with Eva we decided that they do, but the post has to be imaginative. So here I am, creating a fun bedtime story, explaining how the dragon became a pet. Once …

A Birthday Card For A Special Friend – CYCI #133

MFT Dragons

Hello and welcome to a new and really fun color challenge over at Can You Case It?. I love this color combo so much that I used it to create a birthday card for a special friend of mine. She already received the card, so I’m not spoiling anything πŸ˜‰ I used the new MFT stamp set “Magical Dragon” that just came out and colored three of the dragons with Copic markers. Video: May the Forest Be With You Card Set

May the Forest be With You

I was in the mood for some inky mess again, but didn’t want to create another card with the color bursts or using the Distress Ink resist technique. That’s why I decided to grab some sprays and color my desk a little πŸ™‚ I realized that I haven’t used the current MFT “Forest Friends” stamp set yet, but I really like the sentiment May the Forest be with you. (Yes, I like Star Wars a little πŸ™‚ ). So I wanted to make sure that I use the stamps for this cute set of cards. You can find all the …

Video: Dog-Gone Awesome Shaker Card Using the New MFT Release

Second Card

I’m back from my vacation in Germany and survived the cold and the flight back. Woohoo for me πŸ™‚ Dog-Gone Awesome Shaker Card While I was still in Germany MFT released some very cute dog stamps that I had to have. Mainly because one of the dogs looks like my Freedom. That’s why I had to use that particular dog on my card (even though my dog is not entirely brown) and create a dog-gone awesome shaker card with it. Here is the video for you: Please excuse the messy Copic coloring. These brown tones always bleed a little more …

I’m Not A Fan Of Valentines Day, But…

Valentines Day Card for my Hubby

… my hubby planned something for me and I wanted to give something back, at least a little card πŸ™‚ So I grabbed the new MFT Ewe are the best stamp and the stitched cloud edges to create a Valentines Day card in “seventh heaven” (Do you know this saying or is that a German thing?). I started with die-cutting the background and blended distress ink (Mermaid Lagoon and Salty Ocean) to create the sky. Nothing fancy, just simple blending without water. Now I took some white card stock and vellum, ran it through my die-cut machine with a stitched …

Colored Ink Comparison – For All Who Need More Color in Their Life

Colored Ink Comparison

What a beautiful Sunday here in SoCal. The sun is shining and it’s warm again. So what would be better than to get the colors out. I finally made some time and swatched all my inks (Jennifer McGuire style). While I was stamping one ink after another, I was wondering which manufacturer is good for sentiments, which one for plain areas, and so on. So I stamped and blended one color from every manufacturer I own and made a video for you (and me of course… I was curious as well πŸ™‚ ). Colored Ink Comparison These are the inks …

MFT January Release – Introduction to Wonky Stitched Dies and Ewe

MFT January Release Ewe

As promised in my last video I wanted to share a cute birthday card featuring the new stamps and dies from My Favorite Things. Just last week MFT released a whole bunch of goodyness and I ordered (just) three items. Stitched Cloud Edges (which I’m not using in this card) Ewe are the best stamp set Wonky Stitched Squares I wanted to try the wonky stitched dies and was not sure which set to get, the rectangles or the squares. At the end I decided the cheaper version is perfect for my testing purposes πŸ™‚ I started with stamping the …
