I’m not a romantic girl, you might know that by now πŸ˜›
But this swirly heart got me. So I wanted to create a card that is worth a So Suzy special. I was thinking back and forth about which technique would be best for this gorgeous stamp. And then it hit me – something simple with a little mess πŸ™‚

swirley heart special

Before I start, just a quick note. Don’t forget to check out all the other cards made with the Swirly Heart stamp. I have a list with all the links at the bottom of this post.

Normally when using water color I’m using water color paper, but this time I didn’t want to have the texture. So I used some mixed media paper, cut it into the right size (which means it fit into the Misti) and stamped the heart with Candied Apple Distress Ink.

After I had enough ink on the paper, I misted it with water till it started running. I tried to contain it as much as possible so it didn’t end up in a big, red blurp.

Then I used my Misti again to stamp the heart at the same place. I didn’t remove the stamp from the Misti, so it was very easy to find the same spot again. πŸ˜›

Now I just cut the panel down, added a piece of lace to the side and adhered everything with foam tape. As a final touch, I added some golden Wink of Stella to all the hearts.

I hope you enjoyed my romantic yet messy (at least a little…) card πŸ™‚

  1. I would never have guessed but that’s the way you did it. I was thinking that you added the red with watercolor. Such a good idea to just distress stamp it and spray it

    • Yeah, it got a little too blurry, but I like that some of the color faded just a little bit from the originally stamped heart πŸ˜›

  2. Very nice Josefine. A great card and tutorial. TFS!

  3. Love this! Thank you!
