Throw on a Crown for Snark Madness

Snark Madness with So Suzy Stamps

is it me you’re looking for *sing* 😛
LMAO, I love my snarky mood swings. Welcome to Snark Madness, aka a new snarky project, this time a mixed media piece on a wood panel. I was at a local art store not too long ago and picked some of them up.

I started by applying two layers of clear Gesso to the wood panel and picking my colors for the background.

I decided to go with a yellow, orange, red theme, so I applied a thick layer of yellow paint first. While the yellow was still somewhat wet, I used just a little bit of orange and applied it to the edges. At the end, I added some pink/ red with rather light strokes on top. By the way, if you\re looking for some inexpensive, but good quality brushes, take a look at the Royal Langnickel ones.

Time to add texture! I was torn between stars and circles when I saw my doily stencil. I thought this one fits to Snark Madness and a “royal” project. So I used a make up sponge to apply a mix of bronze and white acrylic paint.

I knew that the sentiment wouldn’t show up if I would have stamped it directly onto that background. That’s why I decided to paint a white square. I stamped the sentiment and the Halloween cat (which I think fits so well to that sentiment :P) with Staz-On ink. Because the cat didn’t stamp crisp and clean, I also colored her with PITT pens.

At the end I outlined the edges with a black Faber Castell Gelato and added a shadow around the text box. What do you think about my quick and easy project? I enjoyed working on the wood panel. It brings the colors out in a different way, which was quite interesting.

And look what challenge matches my sentiment perfectly: Snarky Stampers – Q is for Queen
