Snarkfest is upon us and of course I’m in the middle of the festivities 😛
If you would like to join us just visit our Facebook group Snarky Stampers. Till January 21st we are having a big party with snarky cards, hilarious memes and amazing prizes. Today I wanted to share a mixed media tag using one of So Suzy Stamps snarky stamps that I just couldn’t leave in her store. It says “I’m not saying let’s go kill all the stupid people. I’m just saying let’s remove all the warning labels and see what happens.”
I started by applying Gelatos onto a manila tag and smeared them around with some cheap Gesso. I find it’s easier to smear Gelatos around using Gesso. A finger alone is to dry and baby wipes constantly destroyed my paper.
I used the white Gelato to add some highlights here and there and the gray one to frame the tag.
Mixed media tags always need some texture. For this one I used whipped spackle through a TCW stencil. I really like that wonky pattern. I also added some script using a stamp that I found at a garage sale and gray archival ink.
Now I added some gold shimmer to the top of the tag and let it drip down.
To repeat the gold effect, I used gold embossing powder on vellum for the sentiment. After heat setting it, I distressed the edges of the vellum and adhered it to the back of the tag.
As a final touch, I ran the tag through my sewing machine, first with a regular stitch all around the tag and then with a triangle stitch just the left and right of the vellum.
Suzanne is one of the gorgeous women I will meet at Creativation/ CHA Megashow next week. Unfortunately that means there will be delays in shipping when you order from here right now.
This tag is also joining the Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers Stencil Challenge – SoSS #75
