Clean and simple mixed media cards with Tonic Studio

Clean and simple mixed media cards with Tonic Studio

Hi and welcome to a new post for Tonic Studios USA. This time I wanted to create some clean and simple mixed media cards – one specific for Christmas and another that can be used year round. It’s super easy and fun. Here you can see how these came together. Just imagine what options you have by just switching up colors. I hope you enjoyed my quick video and want to try that technique yourself. Close Ups Some of my links are affiliate links which means I earn a small commission, if you use my links to shop. Lost & Found art journal page with ArtFoamies

Lost and Found art journal with ArtFoamies

Hi everyone. I’m super excited to share this art journal page with you. I used the journal that I made for my first ArtFoamies tutorial (you can find it here) and I thought it would be fun to share with you how I decorated all the pages, starting with this one. Here is what the page looked like before I started. First, it needed more layers. So, I grabbed one of the n*studio Geometric Small foam stamps and stamped that pattern all over the background. I used similar colors than the ones I used for the original background and mixed…

My Cup of Tea – Foiling techniques with PaperArtsy

My Cup of Tea - Foiling techniques with PaperArtsy

What an exciting technique for the PaperArtsy blog – foiling. I have followed this trend for a while now, always thinking about how I could use this as part of my art journals or mixed media projects. I enjoy the look of a foiled background or when the foil is rubbed onto nearly dry alcohol ink. For this post, I wanted to use something that I haven’t used in a while though – foil flakes. That’s the good thing about renovating your house. You find items that you haven’t used in a while. I knew immediately, that I wanted to…

True Blue with Nathalie Kalbach

I could use some calmness this month. Life is catching up and finding those quiet moments is becoming a challenge. So, I’m looking forward to those healing effects from using the color blue (it’s probably more the process of creating itself that will do that for me 😉 ). I started by adding different pieces of tape to my journal page to create some texture for the background. I was hoping for more blue from the watercolor powders, but it turned out that there were a lot of green and purple pigments in there as well. But that just made…

Inspirational Artist Trading Coin (ATC) chain with Emerald Creek

Inspirational Artist Trading Coin (ATC) chain with Emerald Creek

I finally did it… I finally created an Artist Trading Coin, actually several of them. Artist Trading Coins are little circles of 2.5″ in diameter. Super fun. I love adding circles to my projects, no I create on round surfaces. And they are perfect for all those smaller, gorgeous stamps from Emerald Creek. Once I was done creating my three ATCs, I decided that I want to go one step further. I put them all together to create an Artist Trading Chain, lol. But see for yourself: What do you think? For a first time, not too shabby? Don’t forget…

Working with tissue paper on an art journal page with PaperArtsy

Working with tissue paper on an art journal page with PaperArtsy

The theme over on the PaperArtsy blog is tissue paper and different ways on how to use it in your mixed media projects. I was in a nautical mood, so I decided to use Scrapcosy’s stamps and create an art journal page. The tissue paper helps to align all the different layers and allowed me to stamp all the images without worrying about partial images. But see for yourself: Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the quick video. Do you use tissue paper in your art? If yes, how? Supplies Used Some of my links are…

Possibilitarian mixed media tag ArtFoamies

When I saw the Possibilitarian foam stamp for the first time I felt the urge to create with it. It was too long for my art journal though, so I had to find a different surface. The #12 size tag was perfect. Now I just needed to create a worthy project 🙂 Here is my step-by-step tutorial for the huge tag. I hope you enjoyed my video for ArtFoamies. Can’t wait to share a lot more projects using ArtFoamies with you! Supplies Used Some of my links are affiliate links which means I earn a small commission, if you use…
