Summer Coffee Lover Extravaganza and Challenge

Summer Coffee Lover

Today’s card is inspired by the Summer Coffee Lover Blog Hop and the Can You Case It Challenge #125. Based on the CYCI challenge I already knew which colors I wanted to use. I just had to decide on the medium. My only coffee stamp set is the one from Tim Holtz, so that decision was simple as well. I love my coffee black, so I used the simple coffee mug with the black gold steaming inside. After a little back and forth I decided to use my beloved Ken Oliver Color Bursts in Alizarin Crimson to create a big, …

You Can Never Have Enough Handmade Bookmarks

All Handmade Bookmarks

Hello there! Today I’m showing you some more handmade goodness made with So Suzy Stamps πŸ™‚ Do you love reading as much as I do? My favorite genres are fantasy or medieval books. When I was living in Germany I had tons of them. Unfortunately I had to sell most of them before I moved to the US. Now I’m trying to build my stack up again. And what do all book lovers need? Exactly, bookmarks and the best ones are handmade bookmarks πŸ™‚ This post is a little longer, because I made a lot of pictures throughout the process. …

Video: Mary On a Mixed Media Tag

Prima Marketing Tag

This gorgeous Prima Marketing stamp is in my stash for a while now and I haven’t used it yet. Can you believe that? (Probably, don’t we all have stamps that haven’t been used yet?). Anyway, I wasn’t in the mood for an entire journal page so I decided to create Mary on a mixed media tag. Tip: Instead of buying “expensive”, already cut manila tags you can buy a box of manila file folders and cut them with a tag die. I was a little lazzy and didn’t want to write down every step, so I thought that I could …

You’re How Old – Snarky Bird Crazy Card

Bird Crazy

Just jumping in to share a card with you. I found the idea for the bird crazy card on Pinterest and had to CASE it. I started with stamping the bird onto Ranger water color card stock. I grabbed some of my Zig markers in blue and yellow tones and colored the bird, but I didn’t cover the entire bird with the markers. To give it the water color look, I used a water color brush (one of those with a water tank) and blended all colors together and onto the white areas. Then I drew with the marker directly …

A Confusing Video About Color Combinations

color combinations

Happy Sunday (or what ever day it is, when you are reading this πŸ˜‰ ), I love to listen to others sharing useful information. I have done that through all my crafty life and have learned a ton! Now I wanted to give something back. Even though my knowledge about color combinations is limited, I managed to combine some information from my studies at university and through out my life. I hope that the video is not too confusing, but I tried my best to talk about everything I know πŸ˜‰ Again, I’m not a color expert, I haven’t studied …

I love challenges. They are great to get yourself out of your comfort zone and experience new techniques, styles and colors and at the end enhance your crafting experience. This is what I did today with the color challenge at Can You Case It. Perfect for this color challenge are the sequins that I got from So Suzy Stamps during her anniversary sale beginning May and because I had that stinkin’ cute skunk already stamped and cut, I included it and all the matching stamps with it. Colorful Cowgirl in the Woods Art Journal Page

Cowgirl in the Woods

It was a long weekend, I got a lot of done (including cleaning the house πŸ™‚ ) and I found some time to open my art journal and create another page. A few posts ago I told you about the online store “A Walk Down Memory Lane” and that they have to close by the end June, unfortunately. One of the items I ordered during their “40% off – everything has to go” sale was Becky, the Cowgirl from Prima Marketing. But before I stamped and colored her, I opened my journal on a page that I used to clean …

Video: A Father’s Day Card Based on the Rule of Thirds

Sometimes I have problems aligning images on a card in a way that it looks good. Then I remember the “Rule of Thirds” and how this is used for photography to create a well composed picture. Today I wanted to explain this guideline and how it can be used for card making. Of course this is just one option to adjust images on your card πŸ˜‰ The rule of thirds says that an image should be divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be …
