How to create a mixed media underwater scene with Art Anthology

How to create a mixed media underwater scene with Art Anthology

Finally, my little mermaid has a home. I put the Julie Nutting doll together weeks ago and was always thinking about an underwater scene that would be worthy. Today’s project is showing you how I created the ocean scene using Art Anthology products. The trick was to start with a black background, so I gessoed my page with black Gesso. I was not careful at all and the page turned out quite messy. Not that I’m worried about that πŸ˜‰ My tutorial video shows you how I put the page together, so you can see exactly what layers I added. …

A drawing from a children’s book with Strawberry Jude Stamps

Strawberry Jude Stamps dragonA sketch from a childrens book

Look at this cute dragon. This one of the cutest dragon stamp sets I’ve seen πŸ˜› For this guest design team post I colored the dragon using my Prismacolor pencils and it ended up looking like a drawing from a children’s book – totally unintentional. I wanted to create some kind of lair for the dragon, so I stamped some stalactites. Masking paper helped me stamping several dimensions. I did the same for the scattering of jewels. Then I covered some of the jewels with masking paper and added the sleeping dragon behind it. Before I started coloring, I wanted …

Layered Halloween cards using spooky So Suzy Stamps

Layered Halloween cards using spooky So Suzy Stamps

Last year So Suzy Stamps release a bunch of very spooky and different looking Halloween stamps. Because Halloween is my favorite season (in case you haven’t figured that out yet), I had to grab them this year again and create some fun, layered Halloween cards. In case you missed last years release video, you can find it here. Today’s cards are using a variety of layering techniques. I used some patterned paper, created my own patterns with stencils and combined all of these to create spooky Halloween cards. The sentiments from So Suzy stamps fit perfectly for the outside and …

Winter Wonderland with Emerald Creek embossing powder

Winter Wonderland with Emerald Creek

New month, new challenge over at Emerald Creeks. This month’s challenge is “Canada the Beautiful” and I created a winter wonderland. Of course I could have used the obvious maple leaf, but I wanted to create a different version. That’s why I created a snow scene. I would love to see Canada in the winter. Unfortunately I have been up there, but I really want to go sometime. I like the winter and living in California and I’m missing the seasons sometimes. I imagine that the snow is white and puffy and it’s all quite. Forest scenes in the winter …

Kitten on a broom – a cute Halloween card using Clarity Stencil Brushes

The Greeting Farm flying kitten Halloween card

Last year I missed out on one of the cutest Halloween stamps – Scaredy cat from The Greeting Farm. It has the most adorable Halloween kittens in the set. My favorite? The kitten on a broom! But I got my hands on it, finally πŸ˜› That’s why I immediately had to use it for one of my Halloween projects. I stamped all the kittens a while ago and colored them while I was watching TV. That’s why the coloring process is not part of my video tutorial. But everything else is. I hope you enjoy this Halloween project (and aren’t …

Video: I love you more than jewels with Strawberry Jude Stamps

I love you more than jewels with Strawberry Jude Stamps

Oh my gosh, the new stamp set from Strawberry Jude Stamps is just adorable! It’s dragons! I can’t get enough of dragons and this set comes with a range of little details, like jewels, flames and more. Unbelievably cute πŸ˜€ One of the dragons had to be the focal point of my card, so I decided to pick the guy holding the diamond. Then I used the other small jewel stamps to create the background. Of course, I had to add a bunch of glitter and shimmer, otherwise it would be a really boring gemstone πŸ˜‰ You can see the …

How to create quick and easy backgrounds for spooky Halloween cards

Sppoky Halloween Cards with Art Anthology and Sizzix

It’s about time for spooky Halloween cards and today I’m using my Art Anthology Colorations sprays and Velvet paints to create a couple of them. These cards are great, if you need to create several of them at the same time. You can just use the sprays to color the backgrounds and when you’re finished with that step, the first background is already dry and you can continue with step 2. Brilliant πŸ˜‰ At the end you just need to add some spooky Halloween shapes, like the new Tim Holtz ones. If you want to see all the steps for …
