Yay, my crafty friend Monica is celebrating her 50th birthday this month and we all wanted to celebrate with her. But instead of receiving a ton of gifts, she is giving a way some fun goodies! Check out her blog for more details on how to join the give away.
But now on to my birthday project for her. Monica is a huge fan of Tim Holtz and loves vintage themes. Her mood board (left) shows some great inspiration matching these favorites. So I decided to use things that match her favorites.
I started by coloring a piece of water color paper with Lindy’s Stamp gang magicals. Thankfully I had some sepia colors to match the overall theme. Then I grabbed some rub-ons and stickers to decorate the background. The Lindy’s are also great to color texture paste and fabric. I created some sepia colored texture paste to add even more interested to the background. Because I wanted the lace pieces to match, I colored them with the same color.
While all that was drying, I created a rusty and muddy frame using Grid paste and Distress Crayons. I learned that technique in the Tim Holtz class at CHA. I adhered the old picture to the inside, assembled all the pieces and added some extra decoration.
