Just for fun blog hop – time to create some clean and simple cards

just for fun blog hopWelcome to a blog hop, just for fun. Ingrid pulled together a few crafters and asked us to create with “new” craft supplies, the ones that have been laying around for a while now, unused. And you know what I haven’t done in a while? Creating clean and simple cards, without any mess. Ok, there was a little mess involved when I inked up a background, but way less than normally 😉

Just for fun blog hop

I bought some of the stamps from Finders Keepers a while back. I discovered them at Creativation and fell in love with the very different designs and sentiments. When I finally got my hands on their stamps, I put them aside, because I didn’t have time to actually play with them. Don’t we all have supplies like that? That’s why I was super excited about Ingrid’s idea and started playing with their stamps in combination with my favorite inks from Catherine Pooler.

I started by creating several backgrounds with the “Subtext” stamp set. It’s not big enough for a full card size, so I stamped it three times next to each other.

For the backgrounds, I used Limoncello, Melon Ice and It’s a Girl. Then I stamped the open book to the bottom of all three of them and added the different images.

For the card with the raven on the front, I also added a sentiment to the inside. Now it says “Nevermore” on the front and “Maybe just one more” on the inside.

Then I switched the stamp sets. I also wanted to create some cards with the Mischief Maker set. So I stamped the big circle in Grass Skirt and Bellini and the sentiment in Midnight and Rockin’ Red.

At the end I needed some backgrounds in the same colors, so I decided to create them myself by spreading the same ink onto the borders of a new piece of cardstock and then adhered the Mischief Maker on top.

Here is the design with the “books” background for the book lover.
