Where to go with the Christmas Tree?

christmas treeI’m joining the Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers challenge again. This time it’s U is for UFO and I had the perfect “UFO” laying around! I stamped this cute little bug filled with a Christmas tree a while ago, colored it, cut it out (thanks for my Scan’n’Cut!) and then never used it on a card. I think I used Copic markers to color the Stamping Bella image. There were some bleeding issues, but I covered all of that with my white gel pen.

I wanted to keep it simple, so I masked the bottom part of my card base and blended some Tumbled Glass, Evergreen Bough, and Peacock Feathers using my Clarity brushes. It’s super easy to blend the ink with them, just some strokes needed and no pressure at all.

It’s important to pull the painters tape back, not up when removing it. Plus, if you dab it onto your jammies or T-Shirt a couple times before adhering to the card base it helps preventing ripped paper.

Now I stamped the “Merry Christmas” sentiment from a new Strawberry Jude set onto the white strip at the bottom of the paper. I really like the unique fonts on that set. You can see here that I messed up the masking a little, but at the end you won’t see it anymore – the car covers all of it 😉

Normally I don’t add stamps to the inside of my cards, but this one from So Suzy Stamps is just the perfect add-on for Christmas cards. Especially when you have to create so many that you don’t even know what to write inside 😛

I used the Misti to ensure that the sentiment is stamped solid. I was nearly done with the card and didn’t want to risk starting over again. After the ink was dry (Versafine needs a minute till it’s dry) I blended the same Distress Inks to the bottom of the inside.

At the end I adhered the cute bug onto the front with some foam tape and was done. The bug and the Christmas tree finally have a home (on a card… 😛 ).

  1. This is terrific! Super cute VW image, especially the way you’ve coloured it. Love the sponged and snowy background you gave your UFO, too! I also like the idea of adding a little sponging to the inside of the card, must try! Thanks for joining the fun at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!

    • Thanks, Lindsey! It was so much fun creating this card and super easy too (well, the coloring took a little – but that was days ago… 😛 ).

  2. Absolutely gorgeous, both inside and out. Why have I never thought of stamping a greeting anywhere other than dead centre inside a card? Yours works as a continuation of the outside, so it’s all part of the overall design. Thanks for sharing at SOSS

  3. So glad you finished your UFO and that you joined us at SOSS for this challenge, your card is a real beauty, Jo x

  4. OMG I just love that card. The bug with the tree in it is awesome! I never thought to but the sentiment near the bottom, love that idea. Thanks for finishing your UFO with the Snarky Sisters.

  5. Fabulous ufo and great card, Thanks for joining us at the Sisterhood for the UFO challenge.

  6. Love that image! The bug, the tree the lights! Awesome!!
