It’s time for a new challenge on the Can You Case It? blog. Challenge #127 is a color challenge with some amazing blue and green colors. I combined my Design Team card with the fact that I had to create a birthday card for my dad. He loves cats, so I couldn’t help but creating this crazy kitten birthday card 🙂
I started with stamping the cat and the present from the Crazy Things set onto water color card stock. To be able to blend the two images with water, I used a black Spectrum Aqua pen, colored the stamp and then stamped with it. I wanted to keep the cat simple, so I just colored some shadows. I wanted the present to be the highlight. That’s why I colored it with Zig clean color real brush markers (ok, from now on I will use an abbreviation for these… Zig CCRB) in green and turquoise. I colored just the edges and blended the rest with a water brush. Now I used the Persian Blue to outline the present and create a shadow around it. I used the same blue to color the entire background.
The black outline from the present faded a little too much, so I outlined it again with a Faber Castell PITT artist pen. Now I ran the card stock through my die cutting machine, using the wonky stitched die from MFT. I also cut a piece of paper from the Kaiserkraft Mermaid Tales paper pad and adhered it behind the water color panel. I liked this particular sheet, because it has embossed lines on it that perfectly fit to the wonky stitched edges. At the end, I just popped both onto a card base and added some googly eyes to the cat. 🙂
I hope that you like my crazy kitten birthday card. Join us for this weeks color challenge at the CYCI blog, I’d love to see your creation!
