Colorful Cowgirl in the Woods Art Journal Page

Cowgirl in the WoodsIt was a long weekend, I got a lot of done (including cleaning the house πŸ™‚ ) and I found some time to open my art journal and create another page.

A few posts ago I told you about the online store “A Walk Down Memory Lane” and that they have to close by the end June, unfortunately. One of the items I ordered during their “40% off – everything has to go” sale was Becky, the Cowgirl from Prima Marketing.

But before I stamped and colored her, I opened my journal on a page that I used to clean of a stencil a few days ago. The page was already gessoed (I always have some pages ready) and had some milled lavender splotches all over it. I started with dabbing the Stormy Sky Distress Paint onto the top of the page and misting a lot of water it. After that was dry (over night) I did the same with the Wild Honey distress Paint at bottom of the page. That had to dry another night.

After everything was dry, I added some scripty bubbles all over the page. I stamped the hanging plant from Penny Black on top and the Lavinia Weeping Willow to the bottom right, both with Ranger Archival ink. Now I added some more of the Wild Honey through a wood pattern stencil next to the tree. I already knew where I wanted the cowgirl to be, so I stenciled the flower with Picked Raspberry Distress paint somewhat into the middle.

While the paint had to dry, I stamped Becky onto white card stock and colored her with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers (again… who came up with such a long name?!). Except for her skin, I colored that with Silk Acrylic Glaze in Oyster. Now I carefully fuzzy cut her out and adhered her to the page. At the end I just outlined her with a PITT brush marker.

The reason for the entire page was the sentiment that I stamped last. I found that one in the retirement section at So Suzy Stamps and thought it was hilarious!
