Yikes, it’s getting close to Christmas. Better get these Christmas projects going… Mine for today is a fancy Christmas tag in winter colors.

I started by coloring the background with Distress Oxide. My favorite technique is to smoosh the ink onto the craft mat, spritz some water on top and then drag the paper through the ink. I did that with several shades of blue and brown till I had the effect that I was looking for. I always heat set the inks before adding the next layer of color.

Then I stamped the deer on top, first with black ink and then I added some clear embossing powder on top.

Next up, I die cut the Merry Christmas from white card stock and sprinkled some blue Distress Oxides on top. I also added a bunch of glitter from the Spectrum Noir sparkle pens to the die cut.

I distressed the border of the tag with the Tim Holtz distresser and adhered a piece of burlap to the back. After the adhesive was dry, I added an eyelet to the top.

I added some lace and sewed a fabric flower to the lace. Instead of tying the lace together I sewed it together directly behind the flower.

At the end I adhered the Merry Christmas die cut to the tag and outlined it with a litte Distress crayon shadow.

Usually I’m a fan of traditional Christmas colors, but this tag turned out really interesting, I think. A little rusty winter wonderland πŸ˜›
