New Release Nathalie Kalbach and Rubbermoon stamps

New Release Nathalie Kalbach and Rubbermoon

Look at those gorgeous stamps and aren’t these little ones just so cute? Nathalie Kalbach released a couple new red rubber stamps through Rubbermoon and they are perfect for the upcoming Christmas season or just for anything when you like circles 😉 I prepared a few samples for you. Starting with just a few of them stamped onto a white piece of cardstock. The big ornament was stamped using two ink pads to create an ombre effect. Then just a little sparkle, some doodled strings and my first Christmas card for the year is done, woohoo! Working in similar colors …

Nathalie Studio Creative Squad post – all shapes and sizes

All Shapes and Sizes with Nathalie Kalbach

I’m super excited about this month’s theme All Shapes and Sizes. I love shapes and it’s so much fun to incorporate them in my art journal. If I would have to pick a favorite shape, it’s definitely circles. I constantly draw circles and add bubbles to my projects. That’s why I decided to emphasize them even more for this theme. I started by picking some random mono prints. I have a huge stack of them and thought that they are perfect for adding random marks and then cutting them into shapes. In addition, I selected a few Art Foamies foam …

Inside Outside art journal page for n*studio

Inside Outside with Nathalie Kalbach

Hi everyone! The Inside Outside theme took me onto a journey. At the beginning, I wanted to create something around Winter vs Summer or a similar contrasting theme, but then I started working in my art journal and it moved into a different direction. Basically, I created a page about myself and the contrast of me at work and me at the craft table. But more on that later 😉 I started with a page that already had a few “clean up” marks on it from a Gel Press session that I had. I decided to use the round Gel …

Layers of Love with n*studio

Layers of Love with n*studio

Layers, yummy layers. I enjoy working in layers and being able to see through every one of them and get a peek of what’s lying underneath the surface. For today’s project, I picked the Elephant Parade stencil as my focal point and I had an idea in my head of several patterns shining through the silhouette. So, I grabbed a 5×7” canvas and added a wash of Dina Wakley Lime color. Then I added the first layer using the Hamburg, Toledo and Art Deco stencil and three different shades of green. For the next layer, I picked a few different …

Vacation Mode with n*studio

Vacation mode with Nathalie Kalbach

Last month’s n*studio topic “Vacation Mode” got me thinking. It’s been a while since I have been on a vacation and there is none in sight either. So, I decided for myself that if you can’t go on vacation, shopping is the next best thing. And trust me, I am good at that 😉 I was at one of the big box stores the other day and couldn’t pass the paint and paper aisles without grabbing a few items. To make sure that they don’t end up in a drawer unused, I incorporated them in my new art journal page. …

This must be the place – A project for Nathalie Kalbach

This must be the place Nathalie Kalbach

Even small pieces of art can tell a big story. I love working on tags and playing with the smaller real estate. This one was the perfect size to create some dimension without it looking too busy. Do you want to hear the story of this tag? Then read till the end 😉 I started with a mono printed background. I used a 5×7 Gel Press and added several colors of PaperArtsy paint on top. The second layer uses the same technique, but in a slightly different way. This time I used one of the Petite Gel Press plates and …

My Home is my Castle for Nathalie Kalbach

My Home is my Castle for Nathalie Kalbach

Hi and welcome back to a new project for Nathalie Kalbach’s Creative Squad. I’m playing with Nathalie’s new stamps My Home is my Castle. Have you seen them yet? I was in the mood for some Distress Oxide fun, so I grabbed three tags and started coloring them in. My favorite technique is ink smooshing. For that I used three colors of Distress Oxide from the same color family and smooshed one after another onto my craft mat. Then I spritzed a little water on top and dragged the tag through the ink, one color at the time. Between every …

My fire burns bright art journal page with n*studio

My fire burns bright art journal page with n*studio

Welcome to the December Creative Squad topic “My fire burns bright”. If you want to see what I created for January, check out Nathalie’s blog. I don’t know why, but my first thought when I read this theme was sunrise. Instead of trying to analyze it, I decided to just go with it and create a scene using the Midtown foam stamps. I stamped three of them onto my art journal page. One of them is actually supposed to be standing up, but I think it works out pretty well laying down. Next up I created some simple masks for …

Experimenting with spray paint and Nathalie Kalbach foam stamps

Experimenting with spray paint and Nathalie Kalbach

Welcome to a new Creative Squad post. Last month’s topic over at the n*studio blog was “each day is a new adventure” and we were trying new techniques. For me that meant experimenting with spray paint. I got a few sample sizes during a shopping spree at a local art supply store and never had the courage to try it. Thanks to this topic I finally did and I really like the result. But let’s start at the beginning. I used the Santa Fe stencil to create the first layer of the background and sprayed some yellow and pink paint …

Not a flower for everyone’s garden – a project with n*studio

Colorful flower

Last month’s theme over at Nathalie’s blog was Colors are my Friend and I created a floral page for my art journal using her foam stamps. Colors are my friends, definitely! My favorite one depends on my mood, but usually I tend to pick orange or green tones. Today I wanted to use my favorite color combination though, which is orange and blue. These are complimentary colors, which means they naturally work well together. Since days I have something with flowers in my head, so I wanted to use the new circle foam stamps to create a flower in my …
