Customized 3-tier Halloween cupcake stand

Halloween cupcake stand

Hi everyone, I’m so glad to share my second guest design team post for Deflecto with you. Today I want to share my Halloween cupcake stand and it’s going to be yummy! I’m using the 3-Tier Dessert Stand as the base and the Mini Sign Holders in two different sizes (2×3 and 3×4) for parts of the decoration. I started with decorating the 3 levels of the 3-Tier Dessert Stand using Mod Podge and tissue paper. Thankfully I had the right Halloween colors laying around. I simply spread out the Mod Podge on the base using a simple brush and …

Fancy Christmas tag with Swedish House Crafts

Christmas Tag with Swedish House Crafts

Yikes, it’s getting close to Christmas. Better get these Christmas projects going… Mine for today is a fancy Christmas tag in winter colors. I started by coloring the background with Distress Oxide. My favorite technique is to smoosh the ink onto the craft mat, spritz some water on top and then drag the paper through the ink. I did that with several shades of blue and brown till I had the effect that I was looking for. I always heat set the inks before adding the next layer of color. Then I stamped the deer on top, first with black …

How to create a mixed media underwater scene with Art Anthology

How to create a mixed media underwater scene with Art Anthology

Finally, my little mermaid has a home. I put the Julie Nutting doll together weeks ago and was always thinking about an underwater scene that would be worthy. Today’s project is showing you how I created the ocean scene using Art Anthology products. The trick was to start with a black background, so I gessoed my page with black Gesso. I was not careful at all and the page turned out quite messy. Not that I’m worried about that πŸ˜‰ My tutorial video shows you how I put the page together, so you can see exactly what layers I added. …

Winter Wonderland with Emerald Creek embossing powder

Winter Wonderland with Emerald Creek

New month, new challenge over at Emerald Creeks. This month’s challenge is “Canada the Beautiful” and I created a winter wonderland. Of course I could have used the obvious maple leaf, but I wanted to create a different version. That’s why I created a snow scene. I would love to see Canada in the winter. Unfortunately I have been up there, but I really want to go sometime. I like the winter and living in California and I’m missing the seasons sometimes. I imagine that the snow is white and puffy and it’s all quite. Forest scenes in the winter …

Make a wish – art journal page with creepy paper dolls and Art Anthology

Make a wish art journal page with Art Anthology and Tim Holtz

I’m back at the Art Anthology blog, today with a “make a wish” art journal page. This was one of those pages where I just started and at first didn’t know where it will go. But when I realized that I added quite a few stars to it, I knew what I had to do πŸ™‚ I just recently bought a package of these burlap stars over at Blitsy and had to incorporate one of them. And I think that the ticket and the creepy paper doll finished the page up really nicely. When I first saw them, I didn’t …

Let’s address the elephant in the room – an art journal page with StencilGirl

Let's address the elephant in the room - an art journal page with StencilGirl

Yay for a new art journal page. I recently ordered a couple of StencilGirl stencils and had to try a few of them. For this art journal page I used two of Nathalie Kalbach’s stencil. (Supplies are listed at the bottom of the article πŸ˜‰ ) I started with a mono printed page. I used a red and green Paper Artsy paint, spread them out on my Gel Press and cut it a little smaller, so it fits into my art journal. Then I used the elephant mask to cover an area and added paint through a second stencil. Next …
