Inside Outside art journal page for n*studio

Inside Outside with Nathalie Kalbach

Hi everyone! The Inside Outside theme took me onto a journey. At the beginning, I wanted to create something around Winter vs Summer or a similar contrasting theme, but then I started working in my art journal and it moved into a different direction. Basically, I created a page about myself and the contrast of me at work and me at the craft table. But more on that later 😉 I started with a page that already had a few “clean up” marks on it from a Gel Press session that I had. I decided to use the round Gel …

The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 2 – A tied up art journal page

The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 2

Hi everyone, welcome to the Stencilfied Journal prompt 2 – a collaboration between StencilGirl and Tina Walker. Every week, Tina is releasing a new prompt and this week is involving mother nature. We have to create a journal page and then tie it to something outside. A little scary, but I have my fingers crossed that it won’t rain here in Southern California 😉 For this prompt, I ripped out the middle page of my journal already before I started. This way it was a little easier to work on it and I didn’t need to worry that I might …

How to create mixed media style girl and boy baby shower cards

baby shower cards

Hi everyone, welcome to a new tutorial. Today: baby shower cards (or for new babies in general). A friend of mine had her baby shower last weekend, so I created two cards for her – she is expecting twins. I channeled my best mixed media mojo and came up with these two: What do you think? I have never really created a card for a baby shower before. Does that work? 😉 Supplies Used These are all the supplies I used. When possible, I’m using affiliate links, which means I earn a small commission if you’re using the below links …

Vintage ATCs – a guest post for PaperArtsy

Vintage ATCs - a guest post for PaperArtsy

Hi everyone and welcome to a very exciting post – I’m guest designing for PaperArtsy. Woohoo 🙂 The theme is vintage and I decided to create three vintage ATCs using the latest Seth Apter stamps and paints. As you know, I love PaperArtsy paints. The colors are amazing, the quality is great and they dry fast (which is very important for impatient me). If you’d like to see my guest post over at the Paper Artsy blog, click here. You’ll find more close up pictures and the written tutorial over there. You can also follow me along while watching my …

Gorjuss girl art journal series – Piracy

Gorjuss girl art journal series piracy

Welcome back to a new video of my Gorjuss Girls art journal series. This page uses No. 49 – Piracy. A cute little pirate girl. If you haven’t seen the first video yet, you can find it here. I wanted to create an ocean theme for the little pirate. For whatever reason, it ended up being an underwater scene, but I still think it fits 😉 This way I was able to use this really cool octopus stamp from Tim Holtz. Also, I tried the Marabu Art Crayons that I found at Joggles the other day. You can watch me …

At Emerald Creek is where the magic happens

At Emerald Creek is where the magic happens

Hi everyone and welcome to a new blog post for Emerald Creek. Today I’m sharing three tags that I made with some of my favorite “magic” embossing powders. The theme over on the Emerald Creek blog is “Guy Things” but I’m not very good with a male theme. So I decided to go with “grungy” instead to make it a little easier for me 😉 I started by adding a little paint to the background and then went straight to the focal point. For that I used a mix of Seth Apter stencils and Paper Artsy paints. To add more …

Layers of Love with n*studio

Layers of Love with n*studio

Layers, yummy layers. I enjoy working in layers and being able to see through every one of them and get a peek of what’s lying underneath the surface. For today’s project, I picked the Elephant Parade stencil as my focal point and I had an idea in my head of several patterns shining through the silhouette. So, I grabbed a 5×7” canvas and added a wash of Dina Wakley Lime color. Then I added the first layer using the Hamburg, Toledo and Art Deco stencil and three different shades of green. For the next layer, I picked a few different …

Leave your fear behind with Visible Image

Leave your fear behind with Visible Image

I’m up on the Visible Image Stamps blog again with this little gesso board. I really enjoy working with smaller surfaces and combine different textures with amazing stamp designs. The Leave your fear behind stamp set is one of my newer stamp sets from Visible Image and I’m in love with it! I combined a few “earthy” colors from the Dina Wakley paint set for the background and then just played around with the stamps and stencils. You can watch my process here: Do you like to experiment with your art or do you have a few go to techniques …

New art journal series using Gorjuss girl stamps

New art journal series using Gorjuss girls

Hi everyone, today is the start of a new art journal series. I just recently bought a few more of the Santoro Gorjuss Girl Mini stamps and was trying to figure out what I want to do with them. At the end, there are 60 of them… so I decided to create a small art journal made out of left over paper and some of the sample paper packs that I got during a sale at my art supply store. 30 pages, all 4×6 and kept together with some ring binders. I don’t really have a plan besides filling this …
