Grungy balance on a wood canvas – a project for ArtFoamies

Grungy Balance ArtFoamies Tutorial

Hi and welcome to a new tutorial for ArtFoamies. Today I’d like to share with you a “balanced” wood canvas. I prefer wood canvases over canvas fabric as it is sturdier and gives your projects a unique look. I started by applying the first layer of paint. A very easy technique, especially if you sometimes have difficulties with getting started, is to use a brayer. I applied a few drops of paint directly to the canvas and then just brayered all over it. For this project, I did that in two steps: first blue shades for the sky, then green…

Never Stop Dreaming with Nathalie Kalbach

Nathalie Kalbach N*Studio Never Stop Dreaming

For me, creating is all about expressing myself and experiencing with new mediums, styles, etc. I love to sit down and come up with several ideas of how to use a specific stamp or stencil – sometimes I see a finished project, sometimes I just see the beginning – and then just start creating. For this page, I decided to use Nathalie’s Hamburg and Lily Wallpaper stencil as well as the new Actually, I can stamp set. I knew that my image would end up being rather long, so I grabbed my large Dina Wakley journal and primed one of…

Eileen Hull Handmade Journal with Seth Apter stencils

Hello everyone, I’m super excited to share this post with you! Originally, I wanted to tell you all about IntheMkng, a festival at the end of September for everything crafty, but then I got distracted and started playing with Eileen Hull’s die, so that’s what I’m going to show you instead 😉 But how did I get here? You might have seen that I’m currently signed up as a VIP AFCI Creator and that I’m planning to go the InTheMkng event in September. Eileen Hull is one of the designers that will be there and because I just recently discovered…

The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 10 – Journal about your Day

The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 10

Welcome to a new page in my Stencilfied Journal. I’m a little behind (again…) and prompt 10 is actually from 2 weeks ago. But I finally had the time to edit everything and write the blog post 😉 The Stencilfied Journal prompt 10 is all about journaling about your day and all my last days are about staying on track and checking off items in my humongous to-do list (not just at work, also private… phew). That’s why the “You got this” stencil was the perfect sentiment for this page. I started by randomly picking some Dina Wakley paints and…

The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 8 – Stencil with Glue

The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 8 - Stencil with Glue

I’m back with one more page for the collaboration between Tina Walker and StencilGirl: The Stencilfied Journal Prompt 8 (which was last week’s prompt) is “stencil with glue” and I took that prompt rather loosely. I ended up embossing my page, so the glue is the embossing dabber 😉 This page went from treasure hunt to Halloween page rather quickly. I definitely wanted to use the Scribble X stencil but the original idea was a treasure map. After my embossing powder started flowing, it felt more like something is taking over, literally. So I looked at my Halloween ephemera and…
