St. Patricks Day Center Piece with Deflecto

St. Patricks Center Piece with Deflecto

Are you up for something different? I know, usually I do “mess up” my Deflecto projects quite a bit, but this time I decided to go with a different direction. Sometimes you have to follow your arty heart and see where it takes you and mine lead me to a beautiful St. Patricks Day center piece with the Deflecto Stackable Cube Organizer. While I was thinking about a project for St. Patricks Day, I thought about all the possibilities that I have. Somewhere between mono printed clovers and little 3D printed gold coins I had the idea for a St. ā€¦

Deflecto Guest Post for Valentine’s Day

Deflecto Guest Post for Valentine's Day

I’m super excited to be guest designing for Deflecto again. February is all about Valentine’s Day and I created a very pink frame insert. I’m not a “pink person”, but I enjoyed creating this insert for the Craft Frame in pink. The good thing about is that a portion of Deflecto’s pink product proceeds go to the fight against breast cancer. To see how everything came together, check out my video: I used a candle to lighten up the negatives, but you could use a light string or one of those LED lights. It’s a really neat effect when the ā€¦

StencilClub Voices – Creating Mixed Media Greeting Cards with Ken Oliver

StencilClub Voices Mixed Media Greeting Cards

Wow, I’m in aaaw with Kristie’s stencils for the February StencilClub. Can you already see all the gorgeous backgrounds that you can create with them? I have done so many art journal pages lately that I thought this time I’m creating mixed media greeting cards with Kristie’s stencils as the focal background (lol). But which medium to chose? After staring at my supplies for a while, I decided to use Ken Oliver Color Burst. I put the 9×12 stencil on top of some watercolor paper and then carefully sprinkled the powder all over it. The stencil was big enough to ā€¦

The Smile is the Key for StencilClub Voices January

Smile is the Key Canvas for StencilClub Voices

One of the things that I really enjoyed throughout 2018 was my membership of StencilClub. This is a monthly subscription where you get three StencilGirl stencils – all exclusive for the club. One part of it is the membership of a secret Facebook group. Super supportive folks there and it’s so much fun to see all the projects that everyone is creating with their monthly stencils. Another perk is the chance to be part of the StencilClub Voices. That means a few members get randomly selected to share their work using the monthly stencils. We get early access too šŸ˜‰ ā€¦

Fancy Christmas tag with Swedish House Crafts

Christmas Tag with Swedish House Crafts

Yikes, it’s getting close to Christmas. Better get these Christmas projects going… Mine for today is a fancy Christmas tag in winter colors. I started by coloring the background with Distress Oxide. My favorite technique is to smoosh the ink onto the craft mat, spritz some water on top and then drag the paper through the ink. I did that with several shades of blue and brown till I had the effect that I was looking for. I always heat set the inks before adding the next layer of color. Then I stamped the deer on top, first with black ā€¦

A drawing from a children’s book with Strawberry Jude Stamps

Strawberry Jude Stamps dragonA sketch from a childrens book

Look at this cute dragon. This one of the cutest dragon stamp sets I’ve seen šŸ˜› For this guest design team post I colored the dragon using my Prismacolor pencils and it ended up looking like a drawing from a children’s book – totally unintentional. I wanted to create some kind of lair for the dragon, so I stamped some stalactites. Masking paper helped me stamping several dimensions. I did the same for the scattering of jewels. Then I covered some of the jewels with masking paper and added the sleeping dragon behind it. Before I started coloring, I wanted ā€¦

Video: I love you more than jewels with Strawberry Jude Stamps

I love you more than jewels with Strawberry Jude Stamps

Oh my gosh, the new stamp set from Strawberry Jude Stamps is just adorable! It’s dragons! I can’t get enough of dragons and this set comes with a range of little details, like jewels, flames and more. Unbelievably cute šŸ˜€ One of the dragons had to be the focal point of my card, so I decided to pick the guy holding the diamond. Then I used the other small jewel stamps to create the background. Of course, I had to add a bunch of glitter and shimmer, otherwise it would be a really boring gemstone šŸ˜‰ You can see the ā€¦
