True Blue with Nathalie Kalbach

I could use some calmness this month. Life is catching up and finding those quiet moments is becoming a challenge. So, I’m looking forward to those healing effects from using the color blue (it’s probably more the process of creating itself that will do that for me 😉 ). I started by adding different pieces of tape to my journal page to create some texture for the background. I was hoping for more blue from the watercolor powders, but it turned out that there were a lot of green and purple pigments in there as well. But that just made …

Inspirational Artist Trading Coin (ATC) chain with Emerald Creek

Inspirational Artist Trading Coin (ATC) chain with Emerald Creek

I finally did it… I finally created an Artist Trading Coin, actually several of them. Artist Trading Coins are little circles of 2.5″ in diameter. Super fun. I love adding circles to my projects, no I create on round surfaces. And they are perfect for all those smaller, gorgeous stamps from Emerald Creek. Once I was done creating my three ATCs, I decided that I want to go one step further. I put them all together to create an Artist Trading Chain, lol. But see for yourself: What do you think? For a first time, not too shabby? Don’t forget …

Working with tissue paper on an art journal page with PaperArtsy

Working with tissue paper on an art journal page with PaperArtsy

The theme over on the PaperArtsy blog is tissue paper and different ways on how to use it in your mixed media projects. I was in a nautical mood, so I decided to use Scrapcosy’s stamps and create an art journal page. The tissue paper helps to align all the different layers and allowed me to stamp all the images without worrying about partial images. But see for yourself: Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed the quick video. Do you use tissue paper in your art? If yes, how? Supplies Used Some of my links are …

Possibilitarian – Mixed media tag for ArtFoamies

Possibilitarian mixed media tag ArtFoamies

When I saw the Possibilitarian foam stamp for the first time I felt the urge to create with it. It was too long for my art journal though, so I had to find a different surface. The #12 size tag was perfect. Now I just needed to create a worthy project 🙂 Here is my step-by-step tutorial for the huge tag. I hope you enjoyed my video for ArtFoamies. Can’t wait to share a lot more projects using ArtFoamies with you! Supplies Used Some of my links are affiliate links which means I earn a small commission, if you use …

Spooktastic Halloween Card with PaperArtsy

Spooktastic Halloween Card with PaperArtsy

Hi everyone, and welcome to a new post for PaperArtsy. This time it is all about stamp platforms, so I wanted to show you how you can create a spooktastic Halloween card with the help of the MISTI – or any other theme for a card using stamps and paints. I’m a huge fan of Halloween and love all the spooky decorations and costumes. For these cards I decided to use some non-traditional colors though. Mainly because the mummy and the witch are so quirky that I had to do something special for them. I hope you enjoyed my scary …

Grungy balance on a wood canvas – a project for ArtFoamies

Grungy Balance ArtFoamies Tutorial

Hi and welcome to a new tutorial for ArtFoamies. Today I’d like to share with you a “balanced” wood canvas. I prefer wood canvases over canvas fabric as it is sturdier and gives your projects a unique look. I started by applying the first layer of paint. A very easy technique, especially if you sometimes have difficulties with getting started, is to use a brayer. I applied a few drops of paint directly to the canvas and then just brayered all over it. For this project, I did that in two steps: first blue shades for the sky, then green …

How to make a mini art journal out of one piece of paper – a project for ArtFoamies

ArtFoamies Mini Art Journal

Hi, and welcome to my first video tutorial for ArtFoamies. I really enjoy working with a Gel Press to create mono prints and thought that this would be the perfect technique to share with you for my first video as part of the design team. I decided to create a mini art journal made out of one single sheet of paper and then I used the ArtFoamies to decorate the background and to stamp the foreground for my cover. Enjoy the video! How did you like this folding technique? I found the idea for it on Pinterest and was so …

In the Night ATCs with Emerald Creek

In the Night with Emerald Creek

The theme over at the Emerald Creek blog is In the Night and I decided to make it a Halloween project. I haven’t done much for Halloween this year, which is not normal for me 😉 I couldn’t decide which of my many Emerald Creek Halloween stamps to use. So, I went with the easy way – creating multiple projects. That’s why I created 3 ATCs (short for Artist Trading Cards) using night colors for the background and bright embossing powder. But see for yourself: How about winning a gift card for Emerald Creek? Join the monthly challenge over on …

Never Stop Dreaming with Nathalie Kalbach

Nathalie Kalbach N*Studio Never Stop Dreaming

For me, creating is all about expressing myself and experiencing with new mediums, styles, etc. I love to sit down and come up with several ideas of how to use a specific stamp or stencil – sometimes I see a finished project, sometimes I just see the beginning – and then just start creating. For this page, I decided to use Nathalie’s Hamburg and Lily Wallpaper stencil as well as the new Actually, I can stamp set. I knew that my image would end up being rather long, so I grabbed my large Dina Wakley journal and primed one of …

Sweet cocoa with Emerald Creek aroma embossing powder

Emerald Creek Sweet Coffee

Hi everyone and welcome to a new project for Emerald Creek. This time I decided to create something using the Aroma embossing powder. They are called Aroma because they smell like whatever the name is, for example the Chocolate Dream that I’m using smells like Swiss hot chocolate, yummy. So, I had to pair it with the new Unwind stamp set from Pam Bray to create a sweet cocoa card. During the video I’m showing you how to create a fall colored background using water color powders and how to color an image using embossing powder. Both super fun and …
