Be in love with your life – Art journal page

You know I love letting loose in my art journal and this page is one of those πŸ™‚ Life is great at the moment, so – be in love with your life – seems to be a good theme. I used some green and blue tones for the background and then decorated the page using some Art Anthology stencils and other embellishments. You can follow my process here: This time the video has music for the background. I’m sorry about that, but I was in a hurry (other life’s work…) and didn’t want to leave you without my tutorial πŸ˜‰ …

The world is my playground art journal page

The world is my playground art journal page with Art Anthology

The world is my playground. Sometimes this is the best way to approach an empty page. Probably everyone had a moment in their crafty life where they were sitting in front of their art journal and then…. nothing. I definitely had those situations and here is what I do: I grab several shades from the same color (for example a few blue shades) and then just dunk my brush into the jar and start painting. The moment I do that, the ideas start flowing. Sometimes the pages end up very bold, sometimes with just a few layers. No matter how …

Ooozing eyeballs on a Halloween canvas with Art Anthology

Halloween canvas with Art Anthology

How about a mixed media Halloween canvas with oozing eyeballs and poison paste? Art Anthology products are perfect for drippy backgrounds and thick texture alike. And it’s still enough time to create some more spooky things – despite all the Christmas decoration that is already up in my grocery store. I’m a fan of these smaller, card sized projects and love to decorate a canvas like that. The smaller area makes it easier to get started, but also challenges you to “organize” your space better. So let me show you what I did with this little canvas. And? Oozing enough? …

How to create a mixed media underwater scene with Art Anthology

How to create a mixed media underwater scene with Art Anthology

Finally, my little mermaid has a home. I put the Julie Nutting doll together weeks ago and was always thinking about an underwater scene that would be worthy. Today’s project is showing you how I created the ocean scene using Art Anthology products. The trick was to start with a black background, so I gessoed my page with black Gesso. I was not careful at all and the page turned out quite messy. Not that I’m worried about that πŸ˜‰ My tutorial video shows you how I put the page together, so you can see exactly what layers I added. …

How to create quick and easy backgrounds for spooky Halloween cards

Sppoky Halloween Cards with Art Anthology and Sizzix

It’s about time for spooky Halloween cards and today I’m using my Art Anthology Colorations sprays and Velvet paints to create a couple of them. These cards are great, if you need to create several of them at the same time. You can just use the sprays to color the backgrounds and when you’re finished with that step, the first background is already dry and you can continue with step 2. Brilliant πŸ˜‰ At the end you just need to add some spooky Halloween shapes, like the new Tim Holtz ones. If you want to see all the steps for …

How to use color sprays in a different way with Art Anthology

How to use color sprays differently

I felt experimental today and was wondering if you can use color sprays for other techniques than just spraying ink on something. Not that my findings from today’s project are revolutionary, but it was definitely fun to try something different πŸ™‚ The cards I created a rather simple, but I love the effects the color sprays created and didn’t want to cover them up too much. I like that it was a quick and simple process, so this can definitely be used to create cards in bulk. You know what is also amazing? That the Art Anthology pastes, like the …

Make a wish – art journal page with creepy paper dolls and Art Anthology

Make a wish art journal page with Art Anthology and Tim Holtz

I’m back at the Art Anthology blog, today with a “make a wish” art journal page. This was one of those pages where I just started and at first didn’t know where it will go. But when I realized that I added quite a few stars to it, I knew what I had to do πŸ™‚ I just recently bought a package of these burlap stars over at Blitsy and had to incorporate one of them. And I think that the ticket and the creepy paper doll finished the page up really nicely. When I first saw them, I didn’t …

Video: How to create a wooden wall hanger with Art Anthology

American Flag

Hi everyone, today I want to share a home decor project with you. I created a wooden wall hanger showing the Statue of Liberty and the American flag. It’s super easy to create and it looks great on your wall, not only on July 4 πŸ™‚ I used a piece of birch wood, primed it and then stamped the Statue of Liberty on top. My little drawing knowledge helped me while adding the flag and the Art Anthology paints did the rest. I think I picked the perfect colors for this patriotic art piece πŸ˜‰ This step-by-step video shows you …

Video: 3D birds nest canvas with Art Anthology

Art Anthology birds nest

I’m back with a new project for Art Anthology, woohoo! This time I created a 3D project, well it’s 3D elements on a wood panel πŸ˜› I found this bird and the birds nest in the home decor section, next to plastic flowers and just had to take it home with me. My idea was to pop it up on a canvas. My thoughts went from cutting a hole into a canvas, to adhering at the bottom of the canvas and so on. At the end I decided to risk it and cut the nest in half. Unfortunately, my husband …
