I just can’t get enough of Ken Oliver Color Bursts

Hello everyone! I’m up on the So Suzy blog and wanted to share a final card for August. No worries, not final as in never again, just final as in the last Design Team Card for this month πŸ˜‰

This card is featuring the new “Love is a fire” sentiment from the latest So Suzy Stamps release and, because I can’t get enough of Ken Oliver color bursts, two of the first colors.

I started by die cutting two square pieces of card stock for the sentiment. One piece is white and has the MFT wonky borders on it, the other piece for the black frame is 1/4″ wider. Now I stamped the Carnival Border onto a white piece of card stock using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

After I sprinkled the first powder particles onto the bottom, I realized that I should have used some water color paper instead. Regular paper takes way longer to dry. But I was already so far, so I continued with sprinkling the green and blue color bursts onto the bottom, spritzed water on top and let it run upwards. I repeated that step about 3 times, till I had the color saturation that I wanted.

I had to be patient. This is not my strength! So I cleaned up my craft table and stamped the sentiment onto the square piece.

After I was done it was still not dry, so I walked away and came back a while later. I adhered the square to the color burst piece and that onto an A2 sized card base.

  1. This is great! The combo of the sentiment and the carnival is great.
