Happy New Year everyone! I’m sorry that I didn’t write anything the last weeks, but my hubby and I were busy moving. We bought a house at the end of the year and after a long, stressful journey with the bank we finally moved on December 23rd. You can imagine that our Christmas was filled with unpacking and getting everything setup.
But I’m back and my New Years resolution is to be more crafty π
I have no idea how to proof at the end that I was, but just lets get started with my first card for 2016.
Who else is done with the Winter? I know, living in California and now whining about the “winter” is kind of complaining where there is nothing to complain. But even here it gets really cold at night (no snow though). Anyway, I could need some bright colors and some warm sunshine now. So, can winter be over already? Yes! That’s exactly why today’s card is bright and shiny π
I used an older stamp set from Paper Smooches called Spectrum and the WPlus9 die set Sunshine Layers (perfectly fitting for my needed sunshine π ). I die cut paper that I had left from a Simon Says Stamp card kit (unfortunately I can’t remember which one it was) and layered the first two pieces. Now I wrapped some blue ribbon around it with a neat little bow. Now I used foam tape to pop up the front panel.
The unicorn was colored using a simple Copic blending technique and some gold gel pen for the horn. After cutting it I tucked it behind the bow and adhered it in place. The sunshine sentiment was cut including some “Stacey tape” already adhered to the paper. At last I added some “Summertime Pillow Puff” stickers and Wink of Stella and voila, there is my sunshine π
If you look at the card long enough, you can feel the heat from the sun π
I also like to add the card to the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge – No 217 and to the Paper Smooches January challenge – 4 colors.
Such a sweet card! Love the bright cheerful colors! Glad you joined us at FMS!
Thank you so much, Linda! It was a lot of fun making it π
Happy New Year!
I live in SW Florida and actually it’s been too hot and humid for this time of year, but my first card of 2016 was bright and cheerful for the same reason you wrote about. Kudos to you for making it through a move during the holidays and being back on the crafting horse already! Your card is a adorable, so I’d say you didn’t lose any creativity through the stress! Happy New Year, and thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches (and congrats on your new home!).
Thank you so much, Cindy! The two weeks were terrible enough without being able to craft, so I had to get my stuff set up fast π
Greetings from the one south to the other and a Happy New Year to you, too!
