Why mono printing with the Gel Press is so addicting

Why mono printing with the Gel Press is so addicting

Hi there! Last week I uploaded a video with a few cards that I created using the Gel Press. I got a lot of comments on that one (yeah, mostly because it’s part of a blog hop 😉 ), but a few people said that they have never seen that technique. So I thought I create a video with nothing but mono prints. Here is my video. While you can watch me creating all these prints, I’m telling you a little about the Gel Press. Yes, I had a lot of fun that day! My floor was full of Gel …

Catherine Pooler Zen Garden Release Blog Hop

Welcome to the last day of the Zen Garden blog hop. What do you think of all the new inks, stamps and dies? Aren’t they just gorgeous? During today’s blog hop we focus on the Stained Glass Cover Plate and the Faithful Flutterings stamp. My first project is using the larger butterfly and the new Split Chevron stencil from the Zen Garden release. I started by blending Seafoam, Skylight and Stone Blue through the stencil. After I was done, I splattered the same colors all over the card to “mess it up” a little more. Next up, I stamped the …

Never stop being curious – An art journal page using Visible Image

Never stop being curious

Welcome back! You know me, I love trying new things and am usually rather relaxed about the outcome. This art journal page definitely went through a try and error process before it ended up looking better. In today’s video I’m sharing my journey with this page. The title actually fits really well, because if you never stop being curious, you will create amazing art. This journal page is using some of the new Visible Image stamps. One of them is the “Create your own Calm” sea horse, which needed to be a focal point. I combined it with the Fibres …

My Home is my Castle for Nathalie Kalbach

My Home is my Castle for Nathalie Kalbach

Hi and welcome back to a new project for Nathalie Kalbach’s Creative Squad. I’m playing with Nathalie’s new stamps My Home is my Castle. Have you seen them yet? I was in the mood for some Distress Oxide fun, so I grabbed three tags and started coloring them in. My favorite technique is ink smooshing. For that I used three colors of Distress Oxide from the same color family and smooshed one after another onto my craft mat. Then I spritzed a little water on top and dragged the tag through the ink, one color at the time. Between every …

Save the crafty YouTuber video hop

save the crafty youtuber

Hi everyone and welcome to a very special post. A lot of us crafty YouTubers earn a little bit of money through YouTube’s monetization program. This program was changed just recently, so we won’t be able to utilize it anymore. That’s why we all came together for a Save the crafty YouTuber video hop. We are sponsored by big companies, which means you can win amazing prizes. What do you have to do for that? Just watch our videos and leave a comment underneath the videos (on YouTube, not the blog). The more videos you watch and on the more …

Deflecto Guest Post for Valentine’s Day

Deflecto Guest Post for Valentine's Day

I’m super excited to be guest designing for Deflecto again. February is all about Valentine’s Day and I created a very pink frame insert. I’m not a “pink person”, but I enjoyed creating this insert for the Craft Frame in pink. The good thing about is that a portion of Deflecto’s pink product proceeds go to the fight against breast cancer. To see how everything came together, check out my video: I used a candle to lighten up the negatives, but you could use a light string or one of those LED lights. It’s a really neat effect when the …

StencilClub Voices – Creating Mixed Media Greeting Cards with Ken Oliver

StencilClub Voices Mixed Media Greeting Cards

Wow, I’m in aaaw with Kristie’s stencils for the February StencilClub. Can you already see all the gorgeous backgrounds that you can create with them? I have done so many art journal pages lately that I thought this time I’m creating mixed media greeting cards with Kristie’s stencils as the focal background (lol). But which medium to chose? After staring at my supplies for a while, I decided to use Ken Oliver Color Burst. I put the 9×12 stencil on top of some watercolor paper and then carefully sprinkled the powder all over it. The stencil was big enough to …

Creativation 2018 recap

Live From Creativation FB Event Banner

Creativation 2018 is over and I came back with lots of inspiration (and a few goodies). This post is probably going to be a little longer as there is a lot that I’d like to share with you 😉 Interesting products Let’s start with all the goodies. One of the biggest booth at Creativation was the one from Ranger. I have a recording from my Facebook live here (the audio is a little low, because I didn’t want to scream over all the conversations that were happening around me): In this video you also see Emerald Creek and Seth Apter …

Catherine Pooler Zen Garden Sneak Peeks

Catherine Pooler Sneak Peek

Hello there, I’m currently at Creativation, looking at all the new stuff. One of the new releases that I got a little earlier is Catherine Pooler’s Zen Garden (perks of being on the Design Team 😉 ). So you’re one of the first to see some sneak peeks of the new stamps, dies and ink colors 😀 I mixed some of the new products with dies from the latest Stamp of Approval collection. I love when you can mix and match things. Sometimes you need bright, sometimes a little muted. This background is toned down using vellum. I can’t wait …
